We are looking for an Accounting Technician – Construction to join our Finance team.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing the accounting activities of our various entities and construction projects. The position is primarily responsible for the full accounts payable cycle, bank reconciliations, cash flow monitoring, and providing accounting support for construction projects.

MAIN RESPONSABILITIES

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice entry and verification, account coding, approvals, payments, and vendor follow-ups;
• Follow up with project managers regarding invoices pending approval;
• Assist with cash flow management and payment planning;
• Record and reconcile credit card transactions;
• Perform bank reconciliations for the various company entities;
• Prepare disbursement files related to construction projects, including project cost reports and supporting documentation;
• Follow up with cost consultants, professionals, project managers, and other stakeholders;
• Prepare certain monthly accounting journal entries, particularly those related to insurance, payroll, administrative expenses, and projects;
• Obtain and verify releases of claims and other required documentation for financing applications;
• Participate in month-end closing activities and the preparation of various financial reports;
• Work closely with the Finance team, project managers, estimators, and various departments across the company;
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and autonomous individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where multiple projects are managed simultaneously.

The ideal candidate has:

• A degree, diploma, or training in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field;
• Relevant experience in accounting and accounts payable;
• Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software;
• Experience in the construction or real estate industry is a strong asset;
• Knowledge of Jonas software is an asset;
• Strong ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines;
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
• Ease in following up with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
